Description Biographical:
Sheep ranching was the area's largest agricultural endeavor. Sheep graze around the mining kilns at Muldoon. A herder, on horseback, watches over the sheep. The camp wagons provided the herders with a home. Notice the stacked timber in the background. The timber in this photograph would be burned in the kilns to make charcoal for the processing of the mined ore. The kilns operated 24 hours a day and burned only green wood. The charcoal they made was used to fire the smelters.
