This small group of photos by the early 20th C. photographer, Martyn Mallory, came to The Community Library Jeanne Rodger Lane Center for Regional History via two donors. Among them are the Institute of American West and Dale Gillette. Because Mallory is an important documentarian of the history and culture of early 20th Century life in the area, the group of his images is selected from these two collections. The Martyn Mallory photo collection--approx. 2,000-- resides in Hailey Public Library. These photos supplement that collection. Mallory photographed friends and family, street scenes, landscapes, and mining in the areas of Ketchum and Hailey, ID, from ca. 1900 to 1936. Mallory was born in 1880 and died in 1936. He started documenting life around him at the youthful age of nine and continued until his death.
